What Works at Work? Shaping Employment Futures

Autistic Queenslanders (18+), have your say on employment and help shape
the National Autism Strategy!

Autism Queensland (AQ) is inviting autistic Queenslanders (18+) and/or their parents/carers to share their experiences of finding, securing, and maintaining a job. We would like to hear what helped, what got in the way, and what needs to change.

What’s involved?
  • A 60-90 minute conversation in person or online (your choice). Alternative communication methods and other adjustments are available.
  • Individual or small group sessions (3-4 people) available. You are welcome to bring a support person.
  • Neurodiversity-affirming facilitators.
  • One $100 electronic gift card per eligible applicant will be given as an acknowledgement for your time.
Who can participate?
  • Autistic people aged 18+ living in Queensland.
  • Parents/carers of autistic adults (you can participate alongside or separately).
  • You do not need to be currently employed to participate.
Where/when will these sessions take place?
  • Sessions will take place in late September and October 2025.
  • Face-to-face sessions will be held in various locations across South East, Central, and North Queensland.
  • There will also be online sessions available for those that cannot (or do not wish to) participate face-to-face.

Sessions are listed below. Please keep checking back as we confirm dates and locations. Exact days, times, and locations will be advised upon application:

  • Rockhampton & Gladstone: Monday 22 – Friday 26 September 2025.
  • Cairns: Tuesday 7 – Friday 10 October 2025.
  • Brisbane: To be confirmed.
